Welcome back. I hope everyone had a good Memorial day.
Tonight's guest on The Daily Show is Rand Paul and the panelists on The Nightly Show are Rashida Jones, Felonious Munk, and Mike Yard.
Rand Paul is a politician and physician. Since 2011, Paul has served in the United States Senate as a member of the Republican Party representing Kentucky. He is the son of former U.S. Representative Ron Paul of Texas. He is also running in the primary to be the Republican presidential candidate in 2016.
I believe they will be discussing his recent filibuster of NSA spying
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Wednesday made good on a threat to filibuster his colleagues' attempts to extend some provisions of the Patriot Act that are set to expire June 1.
“Congress hasn’t shown sufficient interest in what executive branch does on a host of things,” said Paul on the Senate floor, accusing some of his colleagues of neglecting to exercise oversight of the National Security Administration. “Once upon a time, we had a standard in our country that was ‘innocent until proven guilty.’ We’ve given up on so much. Now people are talking about a standard that is if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear,” Paul continued.
An aide in Paul’s office confirmed that the presidential hopeful plans to speak for as long as he is capable. Procedurally, he can hold the floor until 1pm Thursday, when the Senate is set to vote on cloture to a trade bill.
He deserves credit for that, despite being wrong on pretty much everything else, he is at least on the right side of the spying issue.
Only in the upside down world of the beltway can somebody honestly say the following and mean it:
Rand Paul has now decided he wants to be a liberal Democrat undercut necessary intelligence collection, weaken the police officers and our intelligence services.
You read that insanity right, according to
Bill Kristol Rand Paul is now a liberal Democrat. I would love it if Paul suddenly saw the light and decided to join those of us who want the free market to be regulated but I highly doubt it will happen.
Republican presidential hopeful U.S. Sen. Rand Paul on Tuesday said Gov. Chris Christie's recent verbal jab at him "wasn't very nice."
Christie, without calling them out by name, recently criticized federal lawmakers who oppose the Patriot Act, a group that includes Paul. Christie said such opposition is "misguided."
Rand Paul to Christie: 'That wasn't very nice'
I would suggest they are acting like children, but i have seen children far better behaved.
Rashida Jones

She has had film roles in Our Idiot Brother, The Social Network, The Muppets, and I Love You, Man, and Celeste and Jesse Forever (for which she wrote the screenplay).
Felonious Munk
A Newport News native named Dennis Banks used a strange sort of alchemy to conjure a promising show business career for himself.
He blended a dose of YouTube urban humor with some sharp political insights and just a touch of exposure from conservative broadcaster Glenn Beck.
Presto!
In no time flat, Banks and his comic alter ego Felonious Munk were racking up more than a million hits on the Internet and thousands of television viewers in the New York City metro area
Don Imus, whose show "Imus in the Morning" airs on the Fox Business network, interviewed him live on his program. In October, the National Review sent a reporter to Newport News to interview this new, black voice of conservatism.
The writer came away with the impression that Felonious Munk's world view doesn't easily fit in one political camp.
"It's fantastically profane, and now and then wrongheaded, I think," wrote the magazine's Jay Nordlinger. "But it's something remarkable under the sun."
These days, Banks said some of the political right's enthusiasm for his commentary has died down a bit. He's OK with that.
He never had the desire to become the right's answer to liberal-leaning funny man Lewis Black.
"The right has figured out that I'm not going to be their black Republican poster boy," he said. "I'm not going to lean to any side. I don't favor anybody … That's just who I am. Arguments are always on a particular issue, never on a party line."
Mike Yard
Mike Yard is an actor and writer, known for Souled Out Comedy (2009), Holla If I Kill You (2003) and The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore (2015).
